Background
Standard LAN-Floating licensing is designed for a fixed number of concurrent users within a single local area network. EnterpriseFloating extends this model for organizations with larger user populations, multiple sites, or remote access requirements that go beyond the typical single-site LAN configuration.
Key Differences from LAN-Floating
- Concurrent user capacity: Enterprise Floating supports larger user pools suited to organizations with many potential users.
- Network scope: EnterpriseFloating can be configured to serve users connecting via VPN or over broader corporate network topologies, not just a single local subnet.
- License management: EnterpriseFloating licenses are managed under a formal license agreement with HydroComp and may include additional terms around deployment and audit.
When to Use EnterpriseFloating
Consider EnterpriseFloating when:
- The organization has more users than a standard LAN-Floating seat count can efficiently accommodate.
- Users need to access the software remotely via VPN or from multiple office locations.
- The IT environment requires a more formally managed software deployment.
Configuration
EnterpriseFloating uses the same underlying CopyMinder Server infrastructure as LAN-Floating. Setup follows the same server and client installation process, with the seat count and network scope defined in the license agreement. Contact HydroComp to discuss EnterpriseFloating configuration for specific network requirements.
