Symptom
When activating a HydroComp license using CopyMinder, the activation fails with error number 793 and a message indicating that the license is already activated or in use on another machine.
Cause
CopyMinder error 793 is returned when the license server records the license key as already activated on a different machine. Common causes:
- The license code was previously assigned to a trial installation, an evaluation, or a prior customer, and was reused without being reset.
- The software was installed on a new computer using the original license key before deactivating the old installation.
- The license was activated during a training event on a temporary computer and the activation was not cleared.
Resolution
Contact HydroComp support with the license serial number and the error code. HydroComp will reset the activation on the license server, allowing the code to be used on the new computer.
In the case where the prior activation is known (e.g., a computer that was replaced or decommissioned), provide the serial number or name of the old computer if available – this helps confirm the reset is appropriate.
