Can I use my laptop as both Server and Client for LAN-Floating licensing?

Yes! You can follow the LAN-Floating licensing instruction document that was provided to you - with one particular customization step. (If you have an existing configuration that needs to be cleaned up, we suggest reviewing the license cleanup instructions.)

  1. First, follow the instructions to set up your computer as the Server, including registration with your license code.
  2. Next, if you have not already done so, install your HydroComp software on the server computer.
  3. Then, set up the computer as a Client as described in the instructions, and "Configure as a network client".
  4. HERE IS THE SPECIAL STEP: When it returns from detecting the Server, you will edit the Network Server field to be "127.0.0.1:11923" (with no quotes). This IP address is the standard "loopback" Windows address for a local machine. Also make sure that the port number (here shown as 11923) matches your server's port configuration.
  5. You can then run the software from clients on your network or from the server itself (as a client).
